After extensive preparations last year and during the first weeks of 2023 — carried out through countless hours of volunteer work by our association members — the renovation at ZAM is about to begin. The focus is set on fire protection, accessibility, and several structural changes and improvements to support the operation of our project- and workshop spaces.
The graphic shows an overview of what will happen in the coming weeks and months and where restrictions may occur:
The good news is: We aim to keep things running as much as possible during the renovation. Closing was never an option!
First, the sanitary facilities in the so-called South Building will become a construction site. Shortly after, the installation of a glass roof on the first floor will begin — creating a bright and well-ventilated future atrium. The workshop currently located in the South Building will then move into the cleared, freshly painted, and newly electrified ‘Aquarium’ in the North Building — the future home of our workshops.
We are optimistic that everything will work out as planned, but also bear in mind that forecasts are particularly difficult when they concern the future. Let’s keep our fingers crossed!
