OFFER

At ZAM—the Center for Exchange and Creation—you’ll find 2,400 m² of open workshops and project spaces for sharing knowledge, expertise, skills, and abilities in the fields of technology, science, play, and art.

ZAM is located right in the heart of downtown Erlangen and is open to anyone who enjoys tinkering, experimenting, programming, or getting creative—whether working alone or in project teams. For young and old, big and small. For everyone who already has a skill and for everyone who wants to learn something new.

But ZAM is more than that: it’s a network of experienced members and connections to local authorities and organizations. This allows us to effectively support ideas and projects that aim to have a positive impact on the city and its community.

What can I do at ZAM?

ABOUT US

At ZAM, people come together to collaborate on creative, technical, artistic, and entrepreneurial projects and to exchange ideas.

The Betreiberverein ZAM e. V. operates ZAM — the Center for Exchange and Making. The association was founded in the spring of 2021 with the goal of maintaining a permanent space for a “culture of making” in the city. Supported by the City of Erlangen and funded by federal and EU grants as well as foundations, ZAM is an inner-city public space that promotes the joy of (hands-on) creation in community and provides access to the digital world.

At the end of 2021, the city of Erlangen transferred the property of the former Greiner household goods and hardware store to the operating association for its use. Since then, the ZAM—Center for Exchange and Creation, featuring workshops, exhibition spaces, areas for project work, and workshop facilities—has been established there and opened in June 2025.
